I developed the Mercadim interface to create a low-friction digital storefront for local producers and entrepreneurs. The project sits in a regional economic context, so the experience needed to work well for people who often had little or no prior digital structure.
Context
Small local businesses are often excluded from online channels due to cost, lack of technical support, or the absence of a basic digital presence. Mercadim aimed to lower that barrier and bring catalog, profile, and discovery into one place.
My role
I was responsible for the platform frontend and its integration with the institutional API. I worked on browsing flows, management screens, and authentication for different user profiles.
Technical decisions
- Responsive interface: prioritized a consistent experience on mobile and desktop.
- Direct integration with the institutional API: connected the UI to the PHP backend to keep data flows centralized.
- JWT session handling: treated authentication as a core part of the day-to-day product usage.
- Regional discovery logic: structured catalog and search around local supply and community demand.
Observed outcome
The project expanded the online presence of local businesses and gave them a more organized product showcase. Instead of depending only on informal publicity, entrepreneurs gained a structured digital storefront.
